Art museum development

The Community Relations and Development Department, Kehys, focuses on the development of the Finnish National Gallery and the art museum sector in general.

The Department’s mission is to create operating models and tools for the Finnish National Gallery and the art museum sector.

The Kehys’ vision is to support the Finnish National Gallery in its role as the national art museum and the leader in the art museum sector development by enhancing the impact and community relations of the museum sector. It emphasises the importance of extensive networking in an effort to strengthen the social role of the Finnish National Gallery. As well as the art museum network, Kehys is also responsible for increasing collaboration with various museum sector professionals and research institutes.

The Department’s strategic focus areas reflect those of the Finnish National Gallery. These are: impact and community relations, support for audience-based museum operations and service package development, competence development of museum professionals, and strengthening the prerequisites for nationwide co-operation in the art museum sector.
