Central Art Archives
The Central Art Archives is a diverse information centre for visual arts that collects and stores materials related to Finnish visual arts in particular. Its collections comprise the Picture Archive, Press Cuttings Archive, Document Archive and Audiovisual Archive. Also the Finnish National Gallery Library is affiliated to the Central Art Archives. The Central Art Archives’ Photographic Department provides photographs for the entire Finnish National Gallery, while its Photographic Service is responsible for the museum’s image services.
The Central Art Archives also actively documents visual arts, artists and art phenomena through interviews, photographs and videos. It and the libraries in the three museum buildings support art history research by providing information services related to its materials and by publishing internal and external research related to its collections. The Central Art Archives participates in the exhibitions of the various Finnish National Gallery museums and arranges focus exhibitions of its own collections.
