Documentation

The documentation activities of the Central Art Archives strive to collect resources for future visual art research and the operations of the Finnish National Gallery museums. Key target areas include art exhibitions in the Helsinki metropolitan area, artists’ interviews, recordings of artists at work and the documentation of the museum’s own collections, exhibitions, and events. Also other subjects, closely associated with visual arts, are documented. Resources related to contemporary art are collected by documenting disappearing art, for example, by photographing, videoing, and recording.
