The extensive collections of the Finnish National Gallery’s Archives and Library are available to researchers and other information seekers in the archive premises and part through online services. The database of Finnish National Gallery’s Art Collections can be found online. You can also get to know the FAQ of our Conservators.

Visitors are asked to make an appointment in advance.

The Customer Service answers to questions concerning the collections of Finnish National Gallery. Customer Service does not reply to enquiries concerning
- values of artworks
- authenticity of artworks
- signatures

We regret that we cannot carry out enquiries that demand wide scale information searching. We recommend making an appointment to the archive or library for self-directed research.

Orders of material are suggested to be made early on; material is retrieved once a week (on Tuesdays) and only by orders made in advance.

The Archive Collections comprise the Picture Collections, Press Cutting Collections, Document Archives and Audiovisual Archive as well as the Finnish National Gallery Library. Materials on Finnish arts and art life have been gathered in the collection on a wide scale.
 

Picture Collections

The Picture Collection of Finnish visual arts and artists is the widest in the country. Usage rights to the photographs are granted for publications, research, and various other purposes by the Picture Collections.
 

Press Cutting Collection

The Press Cutting Collection contains newspaper and magazine articles dealing mainly with Finnish art from the 19th century till 2012.
 

Document Archive

The Document Archive comprises private archives, documents and collections related to Finnish visual arts from the beginning of the 19th century to the present day, including archives of artists, associations, art and other institutions and collections.
 

Audiovisual Archive

The Audiovisual Archive contains video documentaries and sound recordings related to visual arts, and a media art archive.
 

Library

The Finnish National Gallery Library is the largest visual arts library in Finland.
