Eero Nelimarkka (1891-1977) was, like Vilho Lampi, an artist of the Lowlands, an interpreter of Ostrobothnian landscapes and village environments. Miss Kekäläinen (1916) is a classisizing painting of a typically placid, serene Ostrobothnian peasant woman; she is plain and unaffected, imbued with the region's strong tradition of religion.
