Sulho Sipilä

Sisäkuva

Sipilä's art betokens a positive and warmly human attitude, he observes his surroundings with pleasure. The pianist in the Interior, Woman Playing (1931) is Sipilä's wife Tiva, who is here pictured in the Sipilä home near the Church of St. John in Helsinki. Rather like his 19th century predecessor Magnus von Wright Sipilä liked to paint scenes from his immediate surroundings. Both artists also lived in almost the same district in the centre of Helsinki. The School on Ratakatu (1929) and The Skating Rink (1932) could be seen from the windows of Sipilä's home. [NEXT PAGE]
