Press Cutting Archive
The Press Cutting Archive of the Central Art Archives contains newspaper and magazine articles on Finnish visual arts from 1897 to the present day.
The oldest section of the Press Cutting Archive is based on materials collected by J. J. Tikkanen, The Secretary of the Finnish Art Society. The articles from 1897 to 1980 glued in scrapbooks as well as artist-specific article cuttings from 1981–2000 have been microfilmed for the use of researchers.
To aid research, the cuttings are indexed by artist (for 1897–1980) and by subject and reviewer (for 1897–1971). The microfilm cards for artist-specific articles from 1981–2000 have been alphabetically indexed by last name.
Other indexed cuttings have been organised into folders by subject and also remain available to the researchers. In addition to the actual cutting materials, the archive contains a card index on art events from 1891 to 1896.
